1. Introduction
Live OnScreen Translator is an on-screen translation tool. It reads text that is currently visible on your device screen (or in a photo, camera view, or spoken input) and displays a translation. We designed the App to be privacy-respecting: screen captures are processed in memory and are not saved to storage, and translation happens either on your device or via trusted translation services described below.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Screen content (processed in memory only)
When you tap the floating bubble, the App takes a temporary, in-memory screenshot to detect the text on screen (OCR). This image is not stored on disk and is not uploaded as an image; it is released from memory as soon as text recognition finishes.
2.2 Text submitted for translation
To translate, the App extracts the recognized text and, depending on the translation engine you select in Settings:
- Offline engine: translation happens entirely on your device; no text leaves your phone.
- Online engines (Google Translate / AI engine): the extracted text is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection to the translation provider to return a translation. Only text is sent — never the screenshot image.
2.3 Camera and microphone
If you use Camera or Image mode, image frames are processed for text recognition. If you use Voice mode, audio is processed for speech-to-text. This content is used only to produce a translation and is not stored by us beyond what is needed to complete the request.
2.4 Advertising data
The free version shows ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier and certain device/usage information to serve and measure ads. See Google's policies under "Third-party services".
2.5 Purchases
Subscriptions and the one-time purchase are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details; we only receive your subscription/purchase status to unlock premium features.
2.6 Information stored on your device
Your preferences (languages, engine, overlay style, etc.) and your translation history are stored locally on your device only. We do not upload them to our servers. You can clear history in the App and remove all local data by uninstalling the App.

7. Data retention
Screen captures are held only in memory and discarded immediately after text recognition. Text sent to online translation providers is retained by those providers according to their own policies. Preferences and translation history remain on your device until you clear them or uninstall the App.
8. Security
All network requests use encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. Cleartext (unencrypted) traffic is disabled. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Your rights & choices
- Clear your translation history within the App at any time.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Google settings, and opt out of ad personalization.
- Revoke camera, microphone, overlay, or screen-capture permissions in device settings.
- Uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data.
- Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data — contact us to exercise them.
11. International data transfers
Our third-party providers may process data on servers located outside your country. Where this occurs, the transfer is handled under those providers' safeguards and policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
